About GroqInference is the engine that powers AI, and Groq was built from the silicon up to deliver the world's fastest inference at scale. We pioneered the LPU—the first processor designed specifically for AI inference—and are transforming that innovation into a global cloud platform powering production AI workloads.
With the capital, infrastructure, and team to execute, we're uniquely positioned to define the next era of AI infrastructure. The opportunity is massive, and it's still wide open. Now let's go build it!
Mission
Groq is building high-performance AI infrastructure designed to make inference fast, predictable, and scalable. Our Network Engineering & Datacenter teams design and operate the systems that provide the compute, storage, and networking capabilities behind Groq's rapidly growing AI infrastructure.
We are looking for a Network Engineer, Deployment & Support to deploy, validate, and support the datacenter network infrastructure behind Groq's global AI infrastructure. As a Network Engineer, Deployment & Support, you will take network designs from implementation planning through production deployment and operational handoff. You will work across front-end, back-end, management, OOB networks, ensuring that switches, optics, cabling, and supporting infrastructure are installed, configured, validated, documented, and ready for production.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong datacenter networking fundamentals, physical-layer expertise, structured troubleshooting, and the ability to drive deployments across multiple teams and vendors.
Responsibilities & opportunities in this role:
  • Deploy and validate network infrastructure across new and existing Groq datacenters, including front-end, back-end, and management networks.
  • Configure and validate switches, network interfaces, optics, cabling, and supporting infrastructure against approved network designs and implementation standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed cutsheets, port-maps, cabling plans, implementation procedures, validation plans, and as-built documentation.
  • Drive network deployment execution end-to-end, directing and coordinating on-site datacenter technicians through physical rack/stack, cabling, and installation while owning configuration, validation, troubleshooting, and production handoff.
  • Validate physical connectivity and optical performance, including fiber polarity, insertion loss, OTDR traces, transceiver health, and link-level troubleshooting, coordinating remediation with datacenter technicians and vendor teams as needed.
  • Troubleshoot network and hardware failures across switches, optics, cabling, servers, and supporting infrastructure, and perform root cause analysis for deployment and production issues.
  • Manage hardware readiness for deployments, including device staging, rack/stack coordination, inventory and asset record updates, RMA coordination, spares, and vendor shipments.
  • Coordinate on-site deployment audits and execute established QA/QC processes to ensure infrastructure meets Groq standards.
  • Partner closely with engineering, operations, project teams, and vendors to identify and resolve blockers throughout deployment.
  • Provide technical support to global datacenter teams during and after deployments, including maintenance activities, incidents, troubleshooting, remediation, and break-fix events.
  • Develop tools and scripts that improve network deployment, hardware validation, configuration, testing, and operational workflows.
  • Capture lessons learned from deployments and contribute to global implementation standards, deployment playbooks, and repeatable validation processes.
  • Train internal teams and provide technical guidance on network deployment standards, troubleshooting procedures, and operational practices.

Ideal candidates have/are:
  • 6+ years of experience in datacenter networking, network deployment, network operations, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience deploying and troubleshooting Ethernet networks in large-scale datacenter environments, including high-speed links such as 100G, 200G, 400G, or 800G.
  • Experience configuring and validating datacenter switches and modern network fabrics, with working knowledge of BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, and CLOS/leaf-spine architectures.
  • Strong understanding of fiber-optic infrastructure, transceivers, breakout cabling, fiber polarity, insertion loss, OTDR testing, cable management, and physical installation best practices.
  • Experience working with datacenter implementation artifacts such as cutsheets, port maps, cable schedules, rack elevations, implementation procedures, and as-built documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware staging, rack/stack, cabling, RMA processes, and other physical deployment workflows.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systematically across physical, network, hardware, and software layers and drive issues through root cause and resolution.
  • Experience developing deployment automation or operational tooling using Python, Ansible, APIs, or similar technologies.
  • Experience executing deployments across network engineering, datacenter operations, structured cabling providers, hardware vendors, and other infrastructure partners.
  • Strong ownership, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deployments and drive work to completion under demanding timelines.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments where deployment plans and requirements can evolve quickly.
  • Ability to travel to global datacenter locations for deployments, maintenance activities, and other site-specific needs.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation supporting a 24/7 production environment.
