Tenstorrent is leading the industry on cutting-edge AI technology, revolutionizing performance expectations, ease of use, and cost efficiency. With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists have developed a high performance RISC-V CPU from scratch, and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.
At Tenstorrent, we're building cutting-edge AI compute solutions. Developing diagnostics programs to validate the functionality and stress the performance of our solutions is a critical part of delivering exceptional products. We are looking for Engineers to join our Diagnostics Development team. These engineers will work closely with our firmware, software, board, ASIC design and verification teams to ensure that the ASICs, boards, and AI compute systems meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
This role is hybrid, based out of Toronto, Canada.
We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.
Who You Are
- You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 5+ years of experience in semiconductor SoC/IP diagnostics, embedded systems, or a similar technical area.
- You’re proficient in C/C++, Python, and shell scripting, with experience developing firmware for hardware platforms and automating development, validation, and debugging.
- You have practical knowledge of embedded systems, including hardware interfaces, real-time operating systems, low-level programming, and hardware/software interactions.
- You understand digital logic, hardware architecture, system-level behavior, and performance validation, with experience in pre-silicon simulation or emulation and post-silicon lab validation.
- You have hands-on hardware/software debugging experience with industry-standard tools and bring strong problem-solving skills to a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What We Need
- An engineer who can design and evolve diagnostics architecture, frameworks, and infrastructure for reusable, efficient validation across projects.
- Someone who can develop, verify, and release diagnostics packages that screen ASICs, verify boards, and validate systems for internal and external customers.
- An engineer who can optimize diagnostics code and recipes with manufacturing teams and partners to support timely mass-production validation, quality, and yield.
- Someone who can debug issues across ASIC, board, and system levels using tools such as JTAG, scripts, and open-source utilities, then identify root causes and collaborate on resolutions.
- An engineer who collaborates across firmware, board, CI, Qualification, ASIC design/DV, software, supply chain, and manufacturing teams, while providing design feedback, documenting frameworks and recipes, reporting progress, and producing diagnostics reports, trace logs, and issue records.
What You Will Learn
- How to develop and deliver validation solutions for high-performance SoCs and IPs that power next-generation AI technology.
- How diagnostics and manufacturing validation support product quality, performance, and yield across ASIC, board, and system levels.
- How firmware, software, hardware, design, verification, and manufacturing teams collaborate to deliver complex compute products.
- How to influence next-generation designs and contribute to the success of Tenstorrent’s AI compute hardware and silicon.
Tenstorrent offers a highly competitive compensation package and benefits, and we are an equal opportunity employer.
This offer of employment is contingent upon the applicant being eligible to access U.S. export-controlled technology. Due to U.S. export laws, including those codified in the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the Company is required to ensure compliance with these laws when transferring technology to nationals of certain countries (such as EAR Country Groups D:1, E1, and E2). These requirements apply to persons located in the U.S. and all countries outside the U.S. As the position offered will have direct and/or indirect access to information, systems, or technologies subject to these laws, the offer may be contingent upon your citizenship/permanent residency status or ability to obtain prior license approval from the U.S. Commerce Department or applicable federal agency. If employment is not possible due to U.S. export laws, any offer of employment will be rescinded.
